Martin Josephy was born 1968 in Basel, Switzerland. He studied architecture at the University of Kassel and in Vienna, and completed the MAS programme in History and Theory of Architecture at the gta Institute / ETH Zürich. Focusing on the history and theory of urban planning, in 2002–2004 he acted as the managing director of ETH Studio Basel, Contemporary City Institute. Following his participation in the exhibition and publication project “Luis Barragán: The Quiet Revolution” (2000–2002), Martin Josephy has been a research associate and archive curator at the Barragan Foundation in Birsfelden / Basel, Switzerland since 2005. Together with Federica Zanco he is co-editing a forthcoming monograph on the work of the Mexican architect Luis Barragán based on an in-depth examination of the architect’s professional archives. Additionally, he works as a consultant for urban planning and is engaged in local initiatives and cooperative housing projects mainly in his native city.
