Bevk Perović Architects, Slovenia

In 1997, Vasa J. Perović and Matija Bevk founded Bevk Perović arhitekti in Ljubljana, Slovenia, where they work with a team of 10 architects on diverse projects across Europe. Their architecture focuses on researching programmatic reinterpretations and responding to conditions such as political, social, environmental, and material, resulting in solutions that go beyond function.

The studio has received significant international recognition, including the 2007 Mies van der Rohe Emerging Architect Award, Kunstpreis Berlin (2006), multiple Piranesi Awards and Plečnik Prizes in Slovenia, among others. They also received a Red Dot Design award for one of their lamp designs, reflecting their ongoing design practice alongside their architectural work.

Bevk Perović arhitekti has won major international competitions, including those for the refurbishment of Ljubljana’s Drama Theatre, new National Library in Ljubljana, Neue Galerie in Wiener Neustadt, and Highrise Apartment Building Nordbahnof in Vienna, among others. Their work has been widely published (e.g., in El Croquis and A+U) and exhibited globally..

They are also active in teaching, emphasizing context, materiality, and environmental responsibility, themes central to their practice, and sharing their expertise internationally through conferences and workshops.
