MVA (Mikelić Vreš Arhitekti)

MVA (Mikelić Vreš Arhitekti) is an architecture office based in Zagreb, Croatia, founded in 2007. by Marin Mikelić and Tomislav Vreš. The office is engaged in projects of various scales, from large-scale urbanism to architecture and design, with interest in typologies ranging from individual housing and tourism to social and public domain. MVA regularly participates in national and international open competitions and was awarded with numerous prizes. MVA have been awarded with numerous Croatian and international awards, including Special acknowledgment of Zagreb Salon (2012.), ‘Viktor Kovačić’ Award (2012., nominations 2014. And 2022.), ‘Drago Galić’ Award (nominations 2020. and 2021.), Balkan Architecture Biennale (2019. And 2021.), Brick Award for South-Eastern Europe (2015.) and nomination for the EU Mies van der Rohe Award (2014.). Their projects have been presented in numerous publications and lectures, as well as exhibited in Zagreb, Milano, Ljubljana, Belgrade and Novi Sad.

Marin Mikelić was born in Zagreb, 1974. After the graduation at the Faculty of Architecture in Zagreb in 2000. he worked in several offices in Zagreb. Together with Tomislav Vreš, he founded MVA (Mikelić Vreš Arhitekti) in 2007. He presented MVA projects in lectures in Zagreb, Split, Sarajevo and Ljubljana. As a guest-critic, he occasionally participates at the Faculty of Architecture in Zagreb. He is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Civil engineering, Architecture and Geodesy at the University of Split.

Tomislav Vreš was born in Zabok, 1979. After the graduation at the Faculty of Architecture in Zagreb in 2004. he worked as a freelance architect, and during that period he won numerous awards in open competitions, both independently and in a team. Together with Marin Mikelić, he founded MVA (Mikelić Vreš Arhitekti) in 2007. As a guest-critic, he occasionally participates at the Faculty of Architecture in Zagreb.
